Shoreditch, 1890s house – Sitting Room
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”
– William Morris
This delightful sitting room is a harmony of colour and pattern. It includes a number of Morris’s designs, including his Grape wallpaper and Chrysanthemum fabric. The rug was woven specially to a design by another great Arts and Crafts designer, CFA Voysey. A reclaimed antique Jekyll cast iron fireplace is framed by a bespoke oak surround. Above the fireplace, television is discreetly projected from the opposite wall.
