Airborne headboard
Winner of Savoir Beds Grand Prix.
Savoir Beds is a luxury mattress and bed maker with showrooms in Fulham, Harrods and the West End. Each year they run a competition to design a headboard for a double bed. In 2012 the theme was “organic” and my AIRBORNE design, as winner, was manufactured by Savoir Beds.
The brief required a design that could be implemented, with instructions and rendered front and isometric views.
The design features a dandelion stencil on a gradated blue Pierre Frey fabric with a hessian-like weave. I was pleased that the finished product was so close to my rendered designs.
For this project I developed a bespoke upholstery button tuft design with the help of London passementerie firm, Henry Newbery; each tuft is made from merino wool with a few silver threads.
